Earth Day at Upper Crust

We’re serious about sustainability

Sure, we’re known for our banging baguettes, but we’re also serious about sustainability. This Earth Day, we’re celebrating all the ways we are trying to actively reduce our impact on the planet. Here are just a few ways:

Fish fan? Good news – our seafood meets the standards of the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) or the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC). Translation: it’s responsibly sourced.

Your caffeine fix… it’s only the good stuff. Our tea, coffee and hot choc are certified by organisations like Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance or the Ethical Tea Partnership – now that’s something worth sipping!

We partner with Too Good To Go, the fabulous food waste- reducing partner to offer a magic bag of delicious items at a discounted rate directly to you, saving perfectly good grub from going in the bin.

Now, let’s talk low carbon baguettes. Sounds fancy, right? We’ll break it down… when taking into account the ingredients’ production, processing, transportation and food waste, the clever folks at Klimato have given the below baguettes a B rating for carbon footprint, that’s ‘low’ on their scale. A ‘low’ rating means less than 0.9kg CO2e per 400g serving. If you’d like to find out more about ratings, and the work Klimato is doing then head over to their website by clicking here.

Here’s our hero line-up of low carbon footprint legend baguettes:

  • Avocado and egg
  • Plant-based sausage
  • Smoked salmon
  • Chicken avocado salad
  • Prosciutto ham
  • Bhaji and turmeric hummus
  • Firecracker chicken
  • Chicken bacon club
  • Cheese and tomato

So next time you grab a baguette, know this: it’s not just lunch, it’s a bite-sized revolution. Tasty AND doing your bit! Youu’re welcome.
